Jason LockerChancel Choir Director
Jason Locker came to Beymer in 2011 as Chancel Choir Director. In addition to rehearsing and conducting the choir during weekly worship services, he directs the annual cantatas for Christmas and Lent, and can occasionally be heard singing solos on Sunday mornings. In January of 2017, the Beymer Chancel Choir collaborated with other local choirs in a choral workshop featuring composer Mark Hayes. This event led to the choir’s invited performance with Mr. Hayes at New York’s famed Carnegie Hall in November 2017.
In addition to Jason’s work at Beymer, he is the Director of Choral Activities at Bloomingdale High School in Valrico, is a doctoral student in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at the University of South Florida, and is President-Elect of the Florida Vocal Association.
When he is lucky enough to have some free time, he is an avid reader of histories and mysteries, is the proud uncle of 6 nieces and nephews, and is the father of a spoiled chihuahua, Ricky. He has too many “favorite” people and passages from the Bible to choose just one, but can state with certainty that his favorite hymn is “Praise to the Lord, the Almighty.” Something you may not know about Jason, a native Floridian, is that he is already an alumnus of both the University of Florida and Florida State University, in addition to his current graduate work at USF. But…GO GATORS!
