Every year the Beymer Pack 123 Cub Scouts (boys and girls, K-5th grade), place flyers on door knobs and in mail boxes detailing their food drive. They ask for donations of nonperishable foods. The following week, they return to collect the food from the designated drop off locations – from doorsteps and community mailboxes.
All the donations are then taken to the Scout House to be weighed. Their hard work accumulated 240 pounds of nonperishables for the Beymer Food Pantry.
This project teaches the scouts the value of helping others and giving back to the community. These are 2 key elements of the Scout Oath and Slogan – “Doing a good turn” and Helping other people.” A big thank you to the Beymer Pack 123 Cub Scouts!
