Joe E. Jones
Beymer Bronze Director
Joe E. Jones was born in Vero Beach, FL. He began piano lessons at the age of ten. At 14 years of age, he began his first job as Organist at Grace United Methodist Church, his home church in Wabasso, FL.
He graduated from Indian River Community College in Ft. Pierce, FL, and then Florida Southern College, Lakeland, FL, with a bachelor’s degree in Music Education. He worked as a Choral Music Director at Winter Haven High School from 1970 – 2000, and at Dundee Ridge Middle School from 2000 – 20008. He retired from Polk County School system in 2008. Joe served as Organist/Pianist at St. John’s UMC from 1975 – 2010. In 1982, he founded and directed the St. John’s ringers Handbell Choir until he retired from there in 2010.
Joe and Anita joined Beymer MUMC in 2010. He became Director of Beymer Bronze Handbell Choir in 2011. the Beymer Bronze plays for the 11:00 worship service, Christmas and Easter programs. The bell choir has been selected, by audition, to perform at various Walt Disney venues beginning in 2011. In addition to directing the Beymner Bronze, Joe also fills in for other musicians when they need to be away.
