Philosophy & Purpose
Beymer Preschool and Kindergarten has been serving the greater Winter Haven community for over 40 years. It is our philosophy that each child is a creation of God and as such has an inherent need for love. In the preschool setting, children can experience God’s love in an atmosphere which will foster each child’s development spiritually, intellectually, socially, emotionally, and physically. As a mission of the church, the preschool is a ministry in which we live out the Gospel, laying the groundwork for Christian growth and development.
It is the purpose of Beymer Preschool and Kindergarten to provide education for children between the ages of 2 and 6. The curriculum promotes all phases of the child’s development through an active-discovery approach. Emphasis is placed on nurturing a positive self-image by helping a child to understand his/her value as an important part of God’s created world.

Preschool Curriculum
Our curriculum is based upon well-established practices that encourage the development of young children. Beymer adheres to a developmentally appropriate curriculum which means that we recognize that children learn in a progressive pattern, building on prior knowledge and experience as they develop new skills and learn new information. During the Pre-Kindergarten years, children learn best through movement, play, and participation. By integrating purposeful readiness activities into their preschool morning, we can help them develop the important social, physical, and cognitive skills that they will need for future school success. The approach is a natural way for children to learn while having fun.
Our year is divided into theme-based units which give the children an opportunity to learn in an organized way through investigation, exploration, discovery and self-expression. Our themes include the seasons, holidays, Bible stories and much more. Each unit integrates literacy, math, science, art, music, and movement. New concepts are explored within a context of interesting, meaningful activities carried out in a positive and supportive Christian setting. We believe that the first school experience should lay the foundation for a positive attitude toward learning.
Kindergarten Curriculum
Our Kindergarten features hands-on, small group learning. We follow a reading, math, and science curriculum that enables our students to make a smooth transition from Beymer Kindergarten to either a public or private first-grade class. Both of our Kindergarten teachers have a degree in Early Elementary education as well as extensive classroom experience.
We enroll approximately 130 children at the school. Our class sizes are limited so that the children receive more individualized attention from the teacher. The limited size also encourages positive group interaction. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, or economic standing in any of our admission or educational policies.
The Preschool classroom hours are 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM. The Kindergarten day is from 8:20 AM – 2:00 PM. Early and After Care services are available any day that a child attends school as the school is open from 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM.
